The Khushwant Singh Foundation organises the annual Khushwant Singh Literary Festival and the Joy of Learning contests for children, both of which were launched in 2012. The contests are conducted across over a 1,000 schools for more than 10,000 students across Himachal. The foundation also provides scholarships to poor students in Ganol, near Kasauli, and in association with the Sir Sobha Singh Public Charitable Trust, installed a rainwater harvesting reservoir there. In keeping with Singh’s concerns for a green planet and his abiding interest in nature, the foundation plants a tree for each of the speakers at its festivals, in partnership with grow-trees.com.
