About KASHISH Arts Foundation
KASHISH Arts Foundation, which was started in 2010, is a not-for-profit public trust that organises programmes in the field of arts and culture. It aims to create awareness and work for the social, cultural and educational awakening of Indian citizens who are marginalised on the basis of their gender, identity or HIV status. Every year, the KASHISH Arts Foundation presents its flagship event, the KASHISH Mumbai International Queer Film Festival.
It also helms KASHISH Forward, a traveling campus LGBTQ+ film festival that holds screenings at colleges and universities across the country. In addition, the trust facilitates KASHISH Global, programming Indian LGBTQ+ films at festivals worldwide, and the Best of KASHISH screenings at various Pride events across the country.
Solaris Pictures, which is the film distribution arm of the KASHISH Arts Foundation, is an Indian media house and film production company that believes in ‘advotainment’ – advocacy with entertainment. It makes and distributes films on issues such as LGBTQ+ rights, health and sexuality, and human rights. Its productions include The Pink Mirror, 68 Pages, Project Bolo, Purple Skies, Breaking Free and Evening Shadows.
