ART MUMBAI
a leading art fair showcasing South Asian and global art in Mumbai
About ART MUMBAI
ART MUMBAI, founded in 2023, is a dynamic platform dedicated to celebrating and promoting modern and contemporary South Asian art. The initiative was co-founded by leading art figures Minal Vazirani, Dinesh Vazirani, Nakul Dev Chawla, and Conor Macklin, each of whom brings decades of experience in the art world. Minal and Dinesh Vazirani are also the co-founders of Saffronart, a renowned auction house that has been pivotal in shaping the Indian art market since 2000. Together, they also co-established the Saffronart Foundation, an organisation that uses art to raise awareness and funds for various social causes.
Nakul Dev Chawla, director of the Chawla Art Gallery, brings with him a legacy of promoting modern Indian artists, a tradition that his family has upheld since the gallery’s founding in 1967. Conor Macklin, as the director of Grosvenor Gallery, has long been a key player in exhibiting and promoting mid-20th century Indian modernist art.
While ART MUMBAI is an annual fair, it aims to create a year-round calendar of exhibitions, walk-throughs, talks, and exclusive events, offering a global platform for South Asian artists. It serves as a meeting point for collectors, artists, and art enthusiasts, and actively contributes to building collections for both private individuals and institutions. With its founders’ deep roots in the art industry, ART MUMBAI seeks to expand the global reach of South Asian art while supporting a range of social and cultural initiatives.
