About Alliance Française

Alliance Française is part of an international network and works under a triple umbrella: the French Foreign Affairs Ministry, the Fondation des Alliances Françaises in Paris and an Indian board.

In India, the organisation aims to promote the French language, showcase the French culture and develop cultural ties between France and India. There is a network of 13 Alliances Françaises across India.

The Alliance Française headquarters in India was established in Mumbai in 1938. Since then, it has evolved in sync with the geographical and cultural expansion of the city. Collaborating closely with the other prestigious cultural centers, it seeks to promote cultural exchanges between France and India by fostering a dialogue of ideas through contemporary creation that is accessible to all.
