BLR Hubba

The annual BLR Hubba is Bengaluru’s city festival and brings the city’s community spaces to life by celebrating Bengaluru’s diverse cultural treasures in performing and visual arts, literature, theatre, science, music, technology, design, and more. The 2024 edition runs from 30 November to 15 December 2024.

There are multiple sub-festivals at BLR Hubba, encompassing genres from music, theatre and dance to spoken word and conferences. This year, BLR Hubba has over 500+ free events across 40+ venues. The festival offers an exciting lineup of sub-festivals each showcasing Bengaluru’s unique spirit. Highlights include Kantha, a 16-day musical extravaganza featuring 39 boundary-breaking artists at one venue, and off/BEAT, which reimagines culture amidst the city’s heritage spaces. GōdeBLR transforms Bengaluru’s walls into vibrant art galleries, while Hubba in Your Streets brings streets alive with art, music, and flea markets for people, not traffic. Dive into Kannada culture with Gala Gala Gaddala, celebrating folk music, street plays, and Kuvempu’s poetry. Speaklore amplifies Bengaluru’s voices through storytelling, poetry, and comedy. Explore the future with Futures, a conference on AI, health, sustainability, and history, or experience bold creativity at W.I.P alt.Fest, spotlighting experimental and critical art. Finally, the Festival of Handmade honours the beauty of handmade crafts, workshops, and creativity.

The etymology for the word ‘Hubba’ draws its inspiration from the Kannada ‘Habba’ using the phonetic version ‘Hub’ that also denotes BLR as a hub for just about anything. Formerly known as Unboxing BLR Habba, BLR Hubba, is anchored by the UnboxingBLR Foundation.
