Sur Jahan 2026, the annual signature festival of banglanatak dot com, returns with its 13th edition as a celebration of music’s enduring ability to build bridges across cultures and inspire peace. To be held from 23–25 January 2026 at Golf Green Central Park, Kolkata, the festival brings together diverse musical traditions from across the world, creating a shared space for dialogue, harmony, and creative exchange.
This year’s international line-up features acclaimed ensembles, namely Saucējas (Latvia), Vigüela (Spain), Radiant Arcadia (Denmark), and Folker Band (Hungary), each known for blending traditional musical forms with contemporary expression through distinctive instruments and soundscapes. Representing India’s rich musical diversity are powerful performances by Sidi Goma from Gujarat, the Bauls of Bengal, and the urban folk ensemble Folks of Bengal, offering audiences a journey through varied rhythms, philosophies, and lived cultural experiences. A special highlight of Sur Jahan 2026 is a thoughtfully curated tribute by Debojyoti Mishra, commemorating the birth centenary of Salil Chowdhury.
Beyond evening concerts, Sur Jahan continues its commitment to learning and engagement. Daytime workshops (10:30 am–1:00 pm) will offer audiences deeper insights into musical traditions, instruments, and styles, fostering meaningful interaction between artists and listeners. Evening concerts will take place from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm, embodying the festival’s core values of peace, unity, and togetherness. Complementing the musical programme, a handicraft exhibition (11:00 am–9:00 pm) will showcase living heritage traditions from across India, bringing artists and audiences together in celebration of creativity, continuity, and cultural exchange.

1. Make sure you carry light woolens and a shawl to tackle the January chill in West Bengal
2. A sturdy water bottle, if the festival has refillable water stations, and if the venue allows bottles to be taken inside the festival site. Hey, let’s do our bit for the environment, shall we?
3. Footwear: Sneakers (a perfect option if it’s not likely to rain) or thick sandals or chappals (but make sure they are worn in).
