Aspiring and upcoming festival organisers take note, the South Asia Festivals Academy is inviting applications for its Beginners’ Course distance learning programme.
An immersive skills development course delivered online by experts from the UK and South Asia, the 10-week programme is open to entry-level and early-career professionals from Bangladesh, India, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka. The main criteria: experience of up to five years in festivals or cultural venues/events in South Asia.
Here’s what you can expect: weekly workshops covering festival marketing, sustainability, human resources, programming and artistic development, budgeting, financing festivals, diversity and inclusion, risk management and logistics/project management of festivals.
“The South Asia Festivals Academy aims to strengthen the international festivals network and business skills of festival managers in our region,” Jonathan Kennedy, Director of Arts, India at the British Council, told Festivals From India. “The course modules and business planning tools are aimed to build capacity for international collaboration with the UK and others.”
