Jashn-e-Talat by Sahar Zaman
Jashn-e-Talat by Sahar Zaman
A multi-city, multi-disciplinary festival in memory of legendary Hindi film playback singer and actor Talat Mahmood, Jashn-e-Talat by Sahar Zaman was launched in 2017 with an aim to introduce the much-loved vocalist’s music and movies to today’s youth and keep his legacy alive.
Spearheaded by journalist and curator Sahar Zaman, who is also the singer’s grandniece, Jashn-e-Talat includes a concert, a singing competition, dance performances, live portrait painting and narration of Mahmood’s life. Dancer Shovana Narayan, actor Sohaila Kapur and singer Talat Aziz have been part of previous instalments.
Thus far, eight editions have been staged in New Delhi (in October 2017 and March and November 2018), Noida (December 2017), Hyderabad (June 2018), Lucknow (February 2019) and Mumbai (February 2020) as well as online (May 2020). It is set to return at the end of 2022.

How to Reach Delhi
1. By Air: Delhi is well connected with domestic and international flights to all the major cities within and outside India. Almost all the major airlines have their flights operating from Indira Gandhi International Airport in New Delhi. Domestic Airport connects Delhi to the major cities in India.
2. By Rail: The railway network connects Delhi to all major and nearly all the minor destinations in India. The three important railway stations of Delhi are New Delhi Railway Station, Old Delhi Railway Station and Hazrat Nizamuddin Railway Station.
3. By Road: Delhi is well connected, by a network of roads and national highways, with all the major cities in India. The three major bus stands in Delhi are Inter State Bus Terminus (ISBT) at Kashmiri Gate, Sarai Kale-Khan Bus Terminus and Anand Vihar Bus Terminus. Both the government and private transport providers provide frequent bus services. One can also get government as well as private taxis here.

How to Reach Mumbai
1. By Air: Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport, formerly known as Sahar International Airport, is the primary international airport serving the Mumbai metropolitan area. It is situated about 30 km from the main Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus (CST) train station. Mumbai Chhatrapati Shivaji has two terminals. Terminal 1, or the domestic terminal, was the old airport referred to as Santa Cruz Airport, and some locals still use this name. Terminal 2, or the international terminal, replaced the old terminal 2, formerly known as the Sahar Airport. The Santa Cruz Domestic Airport is about 4.5 km from the international airport. There are regular direct flights to Mumbai from other airports. Buses and cabs are easily available from the airport to reach desired destinations.
2. By Rail: Mumbai is very well connected to the rest of India by train. The Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus is the most popular station in Mumbai. Trains to Mumbai are available from all major railway stations in India. Some important Mumbai trains of note are the Mumbai Rajdhani, Mumbai Duronto and Konkan Kanya Express.
3. By Road: Mumbai is well-connected with national highways and expressways. Visiting by bus is economical for individual tourists. Government-run, as well as private buses, operate daily services. Travelling to Mumbai by car is a common choice made by travellers, and hailing a cab or hiring a private car is an efficient way of exploring the city.

How to Reach Hyderabad
1. By Air: The nearest airport is the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport, Hyderabad.
2. By Rail: Being the headquarter of South Central Railway, Hyderabad is well connected with all major cities of India like Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Visakhapatnam, Bengaluru, Kochi, Kolkata. There are railway stations at Nampally and Kachiguda. Trains leaving from these two stations can also be boarded at the Secunderabad railway station.
3. By Road: Regular services of state roadways and privately owned buses from the bus stand of the city are available. Roads are well linked with important cities and states. You can also hire rented cars or taxis to your desired destination.

1. By Air: Lucknow Airport is located in Amausi, about 15 kms from the city centre. It is well connected with major Indian cities such as Mumbai, New Delhi, Patna, Ranchi and Varanasi.
2. By Rail: Lucknow is serviced by the northern and north-eastern railway network. Charbagh Station is 3 km from the city centre.
3. By Road: Lucknow is at the intersection of National Highways 24, 25 and 28, running east, west and south. It is well connected with major cities like Kanpur (79 km), Allahabad (225 km), Varanasi (305 km), Agra (363 km), New Delhi (497 km) and Kolkata (985 km).

Items & Accessories to Carry
1. A sturdy water bottle, if the festival has refillable water stations, and if the venue allows bottles to be taken inside.
2. Comfortable footwear. Sneakers (a perfect option if it’s not likely to rain) or boots (but make sure they are worn in). You need to keep those feet tappin’.
3. COVID packs: Hand sanitiser, extra masks and a copy of your vaccination certificate are things you should keep handy.
