Sree Ramanavami Global Music Festival
With the onset of Rama Navami, a Hindu festival that celebrates the birth of Lord Rama, begins the prestigious, Sree Ramanavami Global Music Festival in Bengaluru. A much-loved event in the Indian classical music circuit, this primarily Carnatic festival has hosted eminent musicians since 1939. Three Presidents and four Vice Presidents of India and all the Governors and Chief Ministers of Karnataka have inaugurated the celebrations.
Among the leading musicians who have performed at the Sree Ramanavami Global Music Festival post Independence include Dandapani Desikar, R. R. Keshavamurthy, Salem Chellam Iyengar, Veena Doreswamy Iyengar, Salem Raghavan, P. Bhuvaneshwariah, Lalgudi G. Jayaraman, M. S. Gopalakrishnan, K.S. Gopalakrishnan, Madurai T. N. Seshagopalan, Sudha Raghunathan, Bombay Jayashree, Sowmya and Nithyasree Mahadevan.
The 86th edition of the festival will take place between 9-13 April 2024, in commemoration of the birth centenary of S V Narayanaswamy Rao and Golden Jubilee of renaming Mysore State as “Karnataka”. The festival will be held at the Special Pandal, Old Fort High School Grounds. The lineup will comprise over 400 international musicians, as well as scholars of Hindu mythology. The 20th Prathibhakankshi Music Competition will also be held during the festival. This year’s line-up includes Kumaresh R and Jayanthi Kumaresh, Trichy Krishna, Mysore Shrikant, Ramakrishnan Murthy, Charulata Ramanujam among others.

3. By Road: The city is connected to various other cities via major national highways. Buses from neighbouring states run on a regular basis to Bengaluru and Bengaluru Bus Stand also runs various buses to major cities in South India.
